Silence and Sound
18 January 2017
Here there is silence.
Quiet. Peace. Calm.
Breathe in. Breathe Out.
There is light. There is warmth.
Here it is safe.
A gentle breeze, the movement of water.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
There is no one to see. No one to hear.
No one to remember.
Eyes closed. Body still.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
Here there is stillness.
No beeps. No blinking lights.
Rest. Relaxation. Recovery.
Perfect tranquillity.
Idyllic calm.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
Here it is simple.
Here there is solace.
No confusion. No chaos. No calamity.
Here there is peace.
Complete calm.
Silent. Still. Simple. Safe.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
But inside everything is noise and chaos and confusion and a whirling swirling storm of thoughts and emotions and anxieties and troubles and it just goes on and on and it’s ripping your mind apart and splintering your heart to pieces and you’re scared and lost and confused and desperate and all you want is for the quiet to wash over but instead you’re drowning choking gasping for air dying and it’s rushing around and pulling you under and you can’t get out and it’s rough and awful and overwhelming and all you want to do is SCREAM.
But the scream is swallowed by the silence.
